Why Concrete and Cement Tanker Hoses Fail (And How to Prevent It) | Jinma Industrial Hose blog

Heat is the first enemy

Bulk cement is discharged with hot compressed air. A hose rated for at least 180 degrees Celsius protects the rubber from hardening and cracking.

Do not over-pressurise the line

Pressure spikes at the start and end of discharge stress the reinforcement. Open and close valves slowly so the hose sees a smooth pressure curve.

Support the full length

  • Suspend the hose so the weight does not hang on the coupling
  • Keep the bend radius above the manufacturer minimum
  • Never drag a charged hose across the ground

Retire it on schedule

Even a well-run hose ages. Log the hours in service and replace the hose before the cover shows deep cracks, because a failure during discharge is far more costly than a planned replacement.
